Kunozan Toshogu Shrine

Kounozan Toshogu Shrine was built in 1617 by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu (the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate). The main shrine, which is a national treasure, is gorgeous and ornate, decorated with extreme colors such as red and gold. In the museum on the grounds of the shrine, visitors can see valuable items from Ieyasu’s daily life.
Nihondaira

The area around the summit of the 307-meter-high mountain on the west side of central Shizuoka City is called Nihon Taira. There is a terrace at the summit, from which one can see Shimizu Port below, and furthermore, over Suruga Bay, Mt. Fuji over Suruga Bay. The summit can be reached by a ropeway.
Miho Seacoast (Miho no Matsubara Beach)

This scenic spot is located on the Miho Peninsula, which juts out into Suruga Bay. The 5-km (3-mile) coastline is covered with 30,000 pine trees, and is one of the most famous scenic spots in Japan, with the blue sea and sky, the green pine forests, and Mt.Fuji.
Satta-toge Pass

The pass is located in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka City. National highways and expressways overlap at the foot of the pass, making it a popular spot for taking pictures with Mt. Fuji, tangerine fields, and the sea.
Shizuoka Sengen Shrine

The three shrines, Kanbe Shrine, Asama Shrine, and Otoshi Miya Shrine, are collectively called Shizuoka Sengen Shrine. The current shrine pavilions were rebuilt over a period of 60 years during the Edo period, and are a group of magnificent and splendid buildings, all lacquered in rich colors. All 26 buildings are designated as national important cultural properties.
Sunpu castle

Sunpu Castle was Ieyasu’s final residence. The site where the castle once stood has been developed into Sunpu Castle Park, where buildings and gates have been restored to remind us of those days. The Japanese-style garden in the park offers seasonal beauty. In addition, visitors can enjoy Shizuoka’s famous tea and confections at a standing tea ceremony table facing the garden for a fee.
Shimizu Port

Shimizu Fish Market Kashinoichi

Shimizu Fish Market Kashinoichi is the first facility in Japan where middle wholesalers sell their products directly. It boasts seafood delicacies such as sakura ebi (shrimp), shirasu (baby sardines), and tuna caught in Suruga Bay. It is a popular spot for locals and out-of-prefecture visitors alike, and is very crowded on holidays.
Oigawa Railway Co.

Oigawa Railway Co. is a local railroad company that operates trains along the spectacular Oigawa River in Shizuoka Prefecture. The trains are not only regular trains, but also a variety of trains such as Swiss apt trains, locomotives, retro trains over 50 years old, and Thomas trains.
Where to leave your luggage
There are six coin lockers scattered throughout Shizuoka Station.
Turn left at the corner immediately after exiting the Shinkansen ticket gate, and you will find the Tourist Information Center. Coin lockers are located near there. If that locker is not available, ask at the tourist information center for another location.
